4 Common Coolroom Headaches!

  1. Out of Control Temperatures – Resulting in Product lossHeavy Industrial Stripcurtain

  2. Plant or Equipment Failure – Resulting in Production Downtime

  3. Cold Air Leaking – Resulting in Soaring Energy Costs

  4. Unsafe Facilities – Resulting in possible Employee Harm

It’s a fact, all Cold Storage Facilities, indeed even Food Production Facilities, Distribution and any facility with temperature controlled areas, can have these headaches! Some have them under control, others escalate to more like migraines…

With the Facility Managers at the focus of our thoughts, we have given you some action points to work through to help reduce, maybe even cure these headaches. Although there is no preventative for human error, we can still do what is in our power to do & minimise risk/exposure & also reduce our ongoing costs.

See Concepts guide to resolve below;

  1. Analyse your entrances and exits to your Facility, where is Air Escaping or warm air entering? – this in most cases will be a very large percentage of the reason why temperature is now out of control

Ask these questions:

  1. Review your equipment and plant areas – is something struggling to keep up, or almost at the end of its life? Is there wear points or damaged areas that could cause breakdown? Preventative Maintenance is more cost-effective than breakdown reactions.
    • Do you have a documented site plan with marked traffic flow & traffic segregation?
    • Are all staff aware & following this plan?
    • Is it practical & actually working on your site?
    • Do it now – before something happens. We can help if you are not sure where to from here
  2. Check your doorway or dock seals. Air leakage is commonly through an old dock or door frame with broken or insufficient seals. Feel around the doorway/dock openings, can you feel air escaping or entering?
  3. Review your equipment and plant areas – is something struggling to keep up, or almost at the end of its life? Is there wear points or damaged areas that could cause breakdown? Preventative Maintenance is more cost-effective than breakdown reactions.
  4. Run through your safety procedures:
    • Is equipment up-to-date with current safety requirements?
    • Do forklift operators have sufficient room to safely manoeuvre?
    • Do pedestrians have safe marked out walkways/ access areas?
    • Do you have a documented site plan with marked traffic flow & traffic segregation?
    • Are all staff aware & following this plan?
    • Is it practical & actually working on your site?
    • Do it now – before something happens. We can help if you are not sure where to from here.

Simply don’t have time?

Or, not sure where to start?

Concept offers a no-obligation site assessment, this could be a good way for you to review and analyse your facilities possible weak points.

We look forward to working with you & helping resolve your headaches on site.
